Chester Road Club is pleased to welcome you to our website, designed with the members and potential new members very much in mind.

The site is regularly updated with news and articles related to the club and cycling in general.

If you register with the site (it's FREE) you will be able to submit your own news and articles (you can even easily upload a picture to go with it) that you think will be of interest to club members or other visitors to the site.

The dates of Chester Road Club's 2010 club events have now been released, they are;

The entry fee for all events is £2.50 [Entry on the line only]. Please try to sign on 30 minutes before the stated start time. Chester Road Club run these events in co-operation with Ellesmere Port CC, Birkenhead Victoria CC and Port Sunlight CC who will be running events on the weeks between our promotions. Road Races

Chester Road Club promote a road race in conjunction with Cycling Development North West each March. The 2010 edition will be held on Sunday 14th March on the Saighton Circuit as usual. For more detials go to the CDNW website.

Chester Road Club's open events [events that require pre-entry on a CTT entry form] for 2010 are;

From The Eureka Cafe

For many years now there have been Chester Road Club rides out of the Eureka Cyclists Cafe, at Two Mills, on the Wirral. These start at 10am on Sundays and Wednesdays. The destination is decided on the day, taking into account the weather and time of year - available light. The pace is moderate at 12 to 14 mph computer average and the destinations vary from the hilly Halkyns and Clwyds to the Cheshire and Shropshire plains. Number of riders vary between four and twelve and the ride length is usually around 60 miles. The format is to get to the Eureka cafe before 10am for a cuppa, decide on the lunch venue, do the ride and get back to the Eureka before 4:30pm for refreshment and reflection.

From Chester

There are alternative Sunday rides, starting at the County Officers Social Club on Plas Newton Lane. All the details for these rides can be found by visiting http://100smilers.blogspot.com/ . As the name suggests, these rides are of 100 miles duration and take place when the weather is suitable; there are no rides when it is very wet, very windy or icy. Destinations range from Rhos-on-Sea in the west, Shrewsbury in the south and Wildboarclough in the east. We ride in 'through and off' formation at a pace of 14 to 17mph computer average and have one stop for lunch. The destination is posted on the blog (the link above) by 6 o'clock on the Saturday and confirmed, or cancelled, when riders have posted their intentions, at 7 o'clock. if there is no ride due to adverse weather conditions, this is also posted on the blog. Start time is 8am in winter to make best use of the available light but may be later in the summer months.

Free British Cycling Membership

It is very important to have 3rd party liability insurance if you ride your bike alot, so if you are responsible for an accident you won't find yourself with a hefty bill. The easiest way to get this insurance is to join British Cycling or the CTC.

If you are new to British Cycling or havent been a member for a number of years you will be eligable for FREE bronze membership or silver if your under 16 [definitely sign up if this is you]. British Cycling membership has numerous advantages not least the 3rd party insurance cover [with no claim excess] and the ability to purchase a racing licence.
